The gutter is the physical bezel between keys. It is cut out of the image so the fragments line up on the real device. Use 0% for the Emulator, Web Buttons or mobile, which have no bezel.

The striped band marks the Companion topbar. Set Decoration → None on keyvisual buttons so it doesn't cut into your image.
